How We Met
We heard from Kathy and Hunter in February of 2022. They were referred to us by one of our industry friends, Andrea of Andrea Kelley Photography. We hopped on a call with them to explain what it would look like for Marmaros to be a part of their day, and shortly later they booked with us! We were so excited to be heading back to the stunning Biltmore Ballrooms!
Love Story
"Like many couples nowadays, Hunter and Kathy met online. However, their relationship started as long distance as Kathy lived in Arkansas and Hunter in Georgia. About seven hours apart, the couple spent the first few years driving back and forth one weekend a month to see each other. In August 2020, Kathy moved to Texas to start graduate school and driving 15+ hours for a weekend was no longer feasible. Due to the state of the world and the economy that year, flights from Dallas to Atlanta were incredibly cheap (thank you Spirit Airlines). In January 2021, Kathy and Hunter took a trip to Orlando. While they had taken several trips together before, such as Cocoa Beach, Savannah, and St. Louis, this trip was special because it was Hunter’s first visit to Universal Studios. Kathy had grown up going to this theme park with her family and was looking forward to sharing this special place with him. Hunter decided to make the trip even more special by proposing to Kathy while they were aboard the Hogwart’s Express. Despite getting engaged and planning a wedding, Kathy was not able to move to Georgia until August 2022 after finishing school. Since then, the couple has enjoyed many trips to Florida, including a joint bach trip with both of their friends to Universal Studios! When not traveling, they enjoy spending their free time playing video games, utilizing their AMC movie passes, attending concerts (hello Taylor Swift) and planning their next vacation.
The couple decided to take a minimoon after the wedding to Orlando where they visited Epcot, Magic Kingdom, and of course Universal Studios. The couple is planning for a larger trip this fall in the Mediterranean where they will board a cruise ship and visit various destinations across Italy, Spain, and France!"
Down to Business
We always met with Kathy AND Hunter over Google Hangouts. Like we’ve mentioned before, we love an involved groom because it really allows us to get to know the couple so much better leading up to wedding day! Our meetings were always super productive and the two of them always came prepared with all of their questions. Meetings would typically end with Kathy & Mallory either discussing all things wedding details (since they were both in the trenches of wedding planning) or Orlando theme parks (since they both got engaged at an Orlando theme park). We were so excited once we finally got to meet in person at a walkthrough of the venue! Biltmore Ballrooms is a venue that always surprises you with how stunning it is and every time we leave a final walkthrough we are just so excited for wedding day to be here!
The Big Day
Kathy and her crew started their day at her and Hunter’s apartment where they relaxed and got their hair and makeup done by Formal Faces. Katie with Finding Georgia Photography, headed to the apartment and started to capture some detail photos and cute pajama pics! We headed straight to the Biltmore Ballrooms and made sure things were prepped and ready to go for the day. When Kathy and her crew arrived, we led them to the bridal suite downstairs so that Kathy could get in her incredible dress from Low’s Bridal. Once she put the finishing touches on her bridal look, Kathy did a first look with her crew followed by a first look with her dad. We adore sneaking peaks of loved ones getting to see the bride for the first time on wedding day! Meanwhile, we were busy at work setting up the decor and orchestrating all of the vendors who were arriving. Hunter had arrived and we were SO ready for him to see his bride, so we escorted him up the stairs and got him set up for the first look. This might be our favorite part of wedding day because the couple gets to see one another and the pre wedding ceremony jitters are at ease because they finally have their person in front of them! Katie with Finding Georgia Photography and Eugene with Wedding Film Pros took the wedding party to knock out some of the big group photos before we tucked everyone away for the ceremony!
Guests started to arrive and you could tell there was so much love in the air for Kathy and Hunter! We sent the family and wedding party down the aisle and when we sent Hunter the song that was playing was a classical version of Panic! at the Disco’s "Death of a Bachelor" - we thought this was a pretty clever choice! Kathy envisioned walking down the aisle to a specific moment in the song “Love Story” by Taylor Swift and she did just that! Their officiant, Travis Nguyen, led a personal and sweet ceremony and before we knew it Kathy & Hunter had been pronounced husband and wife!
Guests were invited out to the cocktail area to enjoy drinks and appetizers while photos and a room flip took place! The florist and decorator CM Productions really knocked the room transformation out of the park! It is always incredible to see a room transform before your eyes, especially when the room is the Georgian Ballroom of the Biltmore Ballrooms! During the room flip, Kathy and Hunter took couple photos, exchanged gifts with one another, and did a private garter moment. When the flip was complete, Kathy and Hunter just took a moment to take it all in before sneaking off to the hallway so they could prepare for introductions and get the dress bustled!
Once the guests had found their seats and settled into the reception, the wedding party and the newlyweds were introduced. Kathy is a huge Taylor Swift fan, so it was no surprise that her and Hunter’s first dance was to “Lover”. After twirling on the dance floor, Hunter gave a welcome speech thanking all those who came to celebrate them and then we started to dismiss tables to the buffet by Palate Catering & Design. When dinner wrapped up, Kathy and Hunter went over to cut the wedding cake by Sally’s Gluten Free Bakery and the groom's cake from Nothing Bundt Cakes. We heard some toasts by Kathy and Hunter’s favorite people and watched the couple dance with their parents before the dance floor was officially declared open. Like we mentioned before, Kathy is a HUGE Taylor Swift fan, and their DJ, Jaybee, with Exquisite Sounds Entertainment did such a great job of making the party a TSwift party! The last formality of the night was doing the bouquet toss before Kathy and Hunter shared a private last dance while their guests were lining up for a bubble send off! Kathy and Hunter ran through all the bubbles before getting into a vintage car that was provided by Hunter’s friend and off to an after party at their place they drove!
Something Spectacular
The table place settings are one of the first things that guests will notice when moving into the reception from cocktail hour. Kathy and Hunter put down customized Thank You postcards on each place setting to thank the guests for coming and celebrating their love. These place cards had a drawing of the Biltmore Ballrooms on the front of them which we think made these thank you’s so memorable! Sometimes the smallest, most thoughtful details are the ones that stand out the most!
Happily Ever After
It was so fun to work with Kathy & Hunter and get to see their stunning wedding vision come to life! Mallory hopes to run into these two at Universal and buy them a Butterbeer one day! We know married life will treat you all well and we couldn’t be happier for you!
