How We Met
Last April, Tori & Richard reached out to us to inquire about help for their March wedding. We quickly learned they were a very special couple as Tori’s family owns The Butterfly Pavilion in Acworth! She spent her summers on the property and it holds a special place in her heart. We hopped on a discovery call with them and not long later, we were booked and ready to start planning their wedding!
Love Story
We love hearing how our couples fell in love. Lucky for us, at their wedding, one of Richard's groomsmen read the entire (very funny) text chain from 2012 to help us understand their story a little more! Read a little bit about how they met and fell in love below!
"Tori and Rich first met in 2012 when he ordered dark rose tea from her at the Scented Leaf tea shop in Tucson, Arizona. At first, Tori thought he was not interested and just really focused on studying. In reality, he was frantically messaging his friends to figure out how to work up the courage to (finally) ask the cute girl at the tea shop on a date. After she said yes, they soon found out they had a lot in common, including the fact that they were both studying philosophy at the University of Arizona – her an undergraduate student and him a graduate student (scandalous, we know). A few dates quickly blossomed into lurg (what Tori and Rich defined as more than like, but not yet love).
This lurg developed into a meaningful relationship throughout the years. They continued to explore their shared interests in hiking, nature, parenting their lovable and very opinionated pup, Akko, and most importantly coffee.
After seven years of travels, dog walks, and amassing a staggering collection of coffee mugs, Richard popped the question on a hike during a beautiful Autumn afternoon. With Akko as their witness, she enthusiastically said yes. Two years later (thanks, COVID), they are very ready to tie the knot and celebrate a partnership built on trust, respect, and love with their closest family and friends."
Down to Business
Since Tori & Richard live in Brooklyn, New York, meetings usually happened over video. However, since Georgia is home to some of Tori’s family, they came and visited a few times and we were able to meet in person and walk around the venue. Tori & Richard were very involved in planning their wedding but were always open to new ideas and suggestions. The week of their wedding, we met one final time to go over details and make sure everything was perfect for their day!
The Big Day
On the wedding day, Vigilante Cosmetics arrived bright and early to begin hair and makeup for the ladies in The Butterfly Pavilion’s beautiful bridal suite. A few hours later, Lupins & Lava arrived to begin setting up the decor on the reception tables and putting flowers on the arch. It was a beautiful spring day and we couldn’t be more excited for all the great photos Luna Lee Photography had started to take while Vigilante Cosmetics finished up on the ladies.
When we arrived, Richard and his groomsmen were just getting set up in the groom’s suite for the day. Tori and her friends did some getting-ready photos before she stepped into her dress and we began running with photos for the day! We got Richard into place and he got to see Tori in her dress for the first time which was so sweet! They both were very emotional and so happy to get married! We moved on to photos of just the two of them before adding in the rest of the wedding party.
Their family began getting dropped off by Atlantic Limo and we were able to knock out all the family photos before guests began to arrive. We hid Tori & Richard away and escorted guests down to the meadow where the ceremony was.
Finally, it was time to begin the processional! We lined up the family and wedding party and began the walk down to the arbor. With the walk being a pretty long one, it was so nice to be able to see all the guests' reactions to Tori when they saw her for the first time up on the hill! When she got to Richard, they took turns circling each other - this is a Jewish tradition that symbolizes strength and unity. Richard’s uncle conducted the ceremony and since these two had already gotten married in New York, instead of taking traditional vows, they read from the ketubah - which is a Jewish Marriage Contract. The ring bearer presented the rings and these two were pronounced husband and wife! After their kiss, Tori & Richard each broke glass before shouting “Mazel Tov!” and exiting the ceremony!
Guests were invited to the Starlight Dance Floor where Ultimate Culinary was passing around hor’ dourves and Tip Top Staffing was serving alcoholic beverages. Tori & Richard took a few more photos together before heading inside for a private moment in the bridal suite with yummy food!
Next, it was time for the reception! We invited all the guests to find their seats and lined up the bridal party for introductions! After Tori & Richard’s first dance, Tori’s dad gave a welcome speech before we opened the buffet full of great food!
After Tori & Richard had their fill, they walked around and greeted their guests until it was time for dessert - and this dessert is always our favorite! Simply Done Donuts had a donut trailer and they were making fresh donuts to order for guests! Tori & Richard obviously got the first batch and they looked so delicious! Next, we came back inside to hear from a variety of people who mean the world to Tori & Richard. We love when toasts expose love and moments in relationships that we don’t get to see, and this group of toasters knocked it out of the park! Not only were we crying over their sweetness but also in stitches as a groomsman read a text chain from the day Richard met Tori (the tea girl). Tori & Richard each danced with a family member and the dance floor opened! DJ Fred with MixPro Events absolutely killed the dance floor! People were dancing all night long to whatever Fred put on! It was so fun! Tori & Richard requested we do the hora and they were hoisted up on chairs while their guests circled around them! SO FUN!
We snuck out later to do a fake send-off with the wedding party on the starlight dance floor which is our favorite tradition at Butterfly! We love allowing the couple this moment to run through sparklers and dance under the light! However, we weren’t done dancing so we went back to the dance floor to finish the night! Soon the shuttles returned to take guests either back to their hotels or to the after-party at a bar in downtown Acworth - which is a perfect way to end a perfect day!
Something Spectacular
We love how intentional Tori & Richard are towards each other. We loved how they asked two members of their wedding party to sing one of their favorite songs for their first dance! This added such a special touch to their reception not only because it was live music but also because it was two people who are so important to them! How sweet!
Raving Reviews
"My wife and I would absolutely recommend working with Marmaros Productions. Megan Harris was our coordinator and she helped make our dream wedding a reality. Well before our big day, Megan had timelines with all vendors prepared. The level of organization she brought to the process made it possible for my wife and I to just kick back and enjoy our big day, knowing it would all go smoothly. Megan and Brenna made sure it did! If you want a coordinator you can depend on for your wedding day, definitely work with Marmaros Productions. They will make it truly special!"
Happily Ever After
Having Tori & Richard choose us to help them with their wedding was an honor! We love working at The Butterfly Pavilion but we also loved working with this very special couple. We know their future will be full of love & happiness (also lots of Acko snuggles) in New York as they continue to build a life together. Cheers to the new Mr. & Mrs.!
